The magic sounds of a freezing river

My Dearest,

Do you know that you can hear the sounds of freezing river? Iš sounds strange, but that's a small gift winter and freezing cold can offer us :)

When it is freezing cold, 5-10 degrees Celsium below zero, witer in the river starts to freeze. Because of nonstopping movement of the water, smal islands of ice form on the to of the water.. This is called sludge. Those small islands are carried by the stram and they meet another island on their way and crashing into each other create strange crunching sounds..

They move and move crashing and circling when they meet an obstacle which makes them stop. When they stop, they start freezing wich one another and create the layer of an ice, which is getting wider and wider until two shores meet.

Here you can see in the pictures how those small islands are moving in the river and freezing..

One day you will hear the sound, I know :)

Your Hevan
