Enjoying the coming of the Spring

One sunny morning while i was walking to the office, the sound of melting icicle made me stop and listen. The winter is fleeting away with every sound of a drop.. The song of small yellow bird was announcing that spring is already here and these huge piles of a dirty snow are counting their last days.. Few more sunny days and this wonderful smell of a wet and warm soil will make my mind clear - winter is over! And this wonderful emotion of a coming spring overfilled me. Suddenly i've realised why we need that gray/wet/ dirty winter. Without the blue and depressing grayness of a winter we would never be able to realise the miracles of the spring!

Ethiopian reflections

The more do i play with my plastic camera Diana+, the more i don't like the perfect digital photography. Yes.. modern cameras can make perfectly sharp, detailed pictures.. yes you can print them on the cover of the travel magazine... But they are dead - they do not have that power to feel the presence of the the moment - the emotion of the moment which often hides from the curious tourist under the smiling faces of local children. May be people are right, when they are hiding from the cameras.. This plastic camera can make a picture of your emotional body, your soul, your stream of the consciousness.. and if you have something to hide, better run away..

Photohraphing the mind

Nothing on this earth happens accidentally... Once a year in Lithuania - Vilnius, we have Kaziukas fair, when all the artists and craftsmen from all over the country and even the neighbors come to Vilnius old town to sell their works. It is the biggest opportunity they are waiting all year long to earn some money. After my trip to Ethiopia, I always compare the things i've seen there with the life people live here.. and i've deicided, that it would be nice to show to my Ethiopian friends, what Kaziukas market is like here in Lithuania. So I took my camera, and left..

I was making pictures of people, ceramics, different goods and crafts.. Always thinking of Ethiopia and comparing Lithuanian angels with Ethiopian ones, Lithuanian potery, with Ethiopian.. And when I got a dveloped film, I've beend astonished - I've got not simple pictures of Vilnius Kaziukas fair, but the pictures of my mind.. where on the background of any moment of my Kaziukas fair, is Ethiopia.. Lithuanian angels with Ethiopian landscapes.. What is the difference for an angel - Lithuania or Ethiopia.. people everywhere are the same :)

The magic beauty of Bolivia

There are many magic places on this earth and sometimes we are damn lucky to have a chance to see and enjoy them. Bolivian Altiplano volcanic deserts are my favorite so far. Traveling there is like like walking in the Mars. The magic beauty and power of the nature make you shiver. The colours of the mountains, deep blue sky and miles and miles of empty space for your sight to wonder. I guess i could live there.. even if it's 4000 meters above sea level.. even if it is freezing cold at night and in the morning.. even if you are surrounded by dust and wind, and the only leaving creature you can meet is vicuna... I love remote places like that.. Beeing there is a gift and hope we will not let peple to spoil them..

The magic sounds of a freezing river

My Dearest,

Do you know that you can hear the sounds of freezing river? Iš sounds strange, but that's a small gift winter and freezing cold can offer us :)

When it is freezing cold, 5-10 degrees Celsium below zero, witer in the river starts to freeze. Because of nonstopping movement of the water, smal islands of ice form on the to of the water.. This is called sludge. Those small islands are carried by the stram and they meet another island on their way and crashing into each other create strange crunching sounds..

They move and move crashing and circling when they meet an obstacle which makes them stop. When they stop, they start freezing wich one another and create the layer of an ice, which is getting wider and wider until two shores meet.

Here you can see in the pictures how those small islands are moving in the river and freezing..

One day you will hear the sound, I know :)

Your Hevan

Instead of letters or in addition to

I was always thinking that bloging is very egoistic thing to do.. We imagine ourselves as very clever and uniques and try to exhibit this for the whole world. And I still think so, but my recently found friends from country far far away from Lithuania, where I do live, made me rethink the idea of blogging. I've deicided, that there are some interesting things in Lithuania, which you can not find anywhere else, and my blog could help some people to experience it throught my ideas and thoughts shared in my blog.. And it would be very egoistic to hide those small pearls - seeds of inspiration from my friends and the rest of the world.. So here I am.. Please enjoy :)

P.S. sorry for my baltic English - I am very inaccurate in terms of grammar and so on :) Also I do hate to write I with a capital letter.. i don't think i do deserve it, so from now on my "i" will be small :D
